- Ph.D. in Gujarati from a recognized university under the Central or State Act or an institution deemed to be a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
- Postgraduate Degree (Masterβs) in Gujarati with a first class or equivalent grade at either:
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) level AND
- Master of Arts (M.A.) level in Gujarati language and literature.
- Candidates who have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) will be given preference.
