Over 84,000 vacancies to be filled in CAPFs and Assam Rifles: Govt tell Rajya Sabha

To fill up the vacancies expeditiously in CAPFs and AR, minister also said that the cut-off marks for shortlisting candidates for constable and GD has been lowered.As due to which the Government told Rajya Sabha.
The Centre on Friday said that the number of vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles (AR) is 84,106. against a total sanctioned strength of 10,45,751.CAPFs and Assam Rifles Recruitment 2024 This was stated by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai in a written reply to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha. The number of vacancies is as of July 1, 2024.

Between April 2023

and February 2024, authorities recruited 67,345 candidates. Additionally, they have notified 64,091 vacancies, currently in various stages of recruitment. Rai affirmed that the Ministry has been taking and will continue to take steps to fill these vacancies quickly through UPSC.CAPFs and Assam Rifles Recruitment 2024

The Minister also addressed the query about the measures taken by the government to ensure swift filling of vacancies. He stated, “We have implemented yearly recruitment for the post. Of many constable (general duty) in collaboration with the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to coordinate recruitment for general duty posts. Additionally, we have nominated a nodal force for recruiting constables (general duty). As well as for sub-inspectors (GD), and assistant commandants (general duty) on a long-term basis.”

The Ministry has directed all Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles to actively undertake recruitment . And hold timely meetings of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to fill promotional vacancies. The Minister also stated that they have reduced the time taken for medical examinations to expedite the recruitment process.

The Minister lowered the cut-off marks for shortlisting candidates for constable. And for GD positions to expedite filling vacancies in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.. This adjustment ensures they attract enough candidates, particularly in categories where they have observed shortfalls.

A decision has been taken to reserve 10% of vacancies for ex-Agniveers .For Constable (General Duty)/ Rifleman. In the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.The Minister added that they have introduced a provision for relaxing the upper age limit and exempting candidates from the Physical Efficiency Test.
